Humason
Theresa
Humason founded the Horse Heaven Hills Regional Club in 1968, serving
as its president for more than 20 years. She served on the Executive
Race Committee (ERC) from 1985 to 1998, eight of those years as chairman.
She sold Appaloosa Journal advertisements for five years to generate
an income for racing, and organized and conducted three successful racing
seminars. She also held numerous successful fund raising events to pay
for the ERC supreme bronze awards for 15 years. Humason completely updated
the Racing Chart books to accurately reflect stakes winners from 1962
to 1990 and was instrumental in getting stakes races graded.
Humason co-founded the Western Regional Appaloosa Racing Council,
serving as executive secretary.
She authored several policy guideline publications and the racing
brochure “Color It Fun.” As
a breeder and owner, Theresa has had two ERC champion two-year-old distance
colts, two medallion winners and 23 individual stakes winners. She’s
been named Leading Breeder and Leading Owner seven times in Washington
and Leading Owner three times in Oregon.
In addition, Humason was inducted into Marquis’ “Who’s Who of
American Women” and “Who’s Who in the American West” in 1981. |
