Roman's Straw Man  ROMAN'S STRAW MAN, a 1971 stallion by HAYES' ROMAN CLOUD and out of MY STRAW, was bred by J.E. Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who sold MY STRAW to David Best of Cassopolis, Michigan. He ran the fastest qualifying time for the Texas Futurity in 1973. Although he finished third in the finals, he went on to win six races as a 2 yr-old before chipped knees kept him off the track.Turning to the performance arena for a shot at success at the age of 3, he won 12 consecutive championships.  Through the years, his production record continued to grow, producing National and World contenders in halter,  Western pleasure, English pleasure, reining, side saddle, endurance, trail riding, pleasure driving, hunter under saddle, calf roping, and racing. His get have earned more than 5,118 performance points, 3,017 halter points, 3,483 non-pro points, 5,109 youth points, 201 Register of Merits, five Halter Superior events, nine Performance Superior events, seven Club Championship, 48 bronze medallions, eight silver medallions, 33 bronze Superior Achievement certificates and one silver Superior Achievement certificate. An 8-time winner of National and World Get of Sire classes, this outstanding stallion passed away in 1991 leaving behind a legacy of producing quality Appaloosas. Close this page
