- Dr.
Francis Haines
A
longtime historian, Dr. Haines wrote two articles for Western Horseman
magazine in 1937, stimulating interest in forming an Appaloosa Registry.
In the mid-40’s Haines and Gorge Hatley visited Claude Thompson,
recommending a studbook be published and a National show held.
Haines also wrote several historical books, and served as historian,
president and vice-president for the Appaloosa Horse Club.
He will long be remembered, by horsemen, for bringing the Appaloosa
breed recognition through his dedicated writing.
