A pioneer breeder (Buttons B was one of his horses), Blevins brought performance events to light and was especially important in promoting cutting.  He served as a director for 21 years from 1958 to 1979 and served as President from 1975 to 1977.  Blevins was a certified ApHC judge, and for many years donated a bead crown for the Miss Appaloosa America contest.
