An early-day breeder and promoter, Dr. Gayle was active in a number of areas.  He was the long time manager of the Appaloosa portion of the Houston Livestock Show and Sale.  He owned the highly successful son of Snow Cloud and Mighty Bright and was known as a successful halter horse breeder.  Dr. Gayle was active in several sales functions, served as the president of the Texas Appaloosa Horse Club and as an ApHC director for 12 years from 1967 to 1979.
