Imboden served as a director for 21 years from 1959 until he passed on in 1980.  In that time he served two terms as president, from 1963-1966 and 1972-1974.  He established the first pari-mutuel Appaloosa race run in Albuquerque, New Mexico and assisted in organizing several regional clubs. Imboden rode all 13 sections of the Chief Joseph Trail Ride and was a certified ApHC judge.
