Dick Stanger

An early national director and known as one of the found fathers of the breed, Stanger served as a director the 21 years (1958-1979).  He served as president in 1974-1975 and was regarded as an accomplished horseman show raised and used Appaloosas long before the ApHC was established.  Stanger and his wife Edith were known to have on e of the largest Appaloosa breeding herds in the country.  Dick Stanger was considered a premier judge and was an officer of the American Horse Association, helping organize the Intermountain Appaloosa Club.
