Claude Thompson

In 1938, Claude Thompson of Moro, Oregon, established the Appaloosa Horse Club for the preservation and registry of the spotted breed.  Thompson had long admired the Appaloosa and is well known for his stallions Red Eagle and Red Eagle’s Peacock—both National champions and producers of champions.   Before Thompson established the registry, the Appaloosa was, some say, headed for extinction.  With life-long dedication and true love for the Appaloosa, Thompson raised the spotted horse to one of America’s classic breeds.
