Bourban Riker

The 1971 gelding by East Ern Riker and out of Arapahoe Queen was bred by H.A. Lewis of Boynton Beach, Florida, and owned by Dick O’Dell of Knoxville, Tennessee.

“Bourban” had great success in the show ring with Dick’s son, Pat. The pair earned 190 performance points, four registers of merit, one superior event title, 604 youth points and 395 non-pro points. Bourban also earned a bronze medallion in 3-year-old halter geldings at the 1974 National Show, a bronze superior achievement certificate in 3-year-old halter geldings at the 1974 World Show, a silver medallion in senior hunter under saddle at the 1978 World Show, a gold medallion in 1979 for endurance trial riding and a bronze superior achievement certificate in senior hunter under saddle at the 1981 World Show. The gelding also earned 351 open endurance miles.

Bourban was humanely euthanized on April 11, 2002, at the age of 31. All who were close to the gelding have wonderful memories and admired his desire “to keep on keeping on.”
