My Host Bright

World and track record setting mare My Host Bright was the
only ApHC foal by Thoroughbred My Host and the first foal out of
Bright Luster. The 1966 mare was bred, owned and raced by Martin Abrahamson of Aurora, Colorado. She began racing as a 2 year old and stayed on the track for four years.

In her career, My Host Bright had 47 starts against Appaloosas
and three in open races; she garnered 22 wins and pari-mutuel
earnings of $26,496. The mare won the 1971 World Wide Allowance and was high-point racehorse with the Mountain and Plains ApHC from 1969 to 1971.

In her last race, My Host Bright set a new track record for mares
at 870 yards by winning the Colorado Appaloosa Senior Stakes held at Centennial Track in Littleton, Colorado.

My Host Bright produced seven registered foals, three of which
brought in $99,083 from the track. She died in June 1983 from
lightning; eight years after her death, the mare was 51st on the
ApHC’s list of all-time leading dams of money earners.
