Hayes' Roman Cloud |
The
name Hayes' Roman Cloud appears in the lineage of many of the prominent horses
of today. The 1965 stallion (Radio Rome (JC) x Hayes' Dakota Cloud), bred by
Wayne Hayes of Hays, Kansas, began his career by winning the 2-year-old sprint
colt title on the track with six wins, two places and two shows in 10 starts,
and was that year's leading money earner with more

than $17,576. At age 12,
following a successful show career, he won the National get of sire
championship at Syracuse, New York, then won three bronze superior achievement
certificates for get of sire at the 1981 National and World and the 1984
World.
Of
his 270 registered Appaloosa foals, Hayes' Roman Cloud's get earned 24 bronze
and six silver medallions and 17 superior achievement certificates in the show
pen. On the track, his 30 started offspring won more than $95,051. Among his
notable get are Roman's It Girl, inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in
1997; 1998 Hall of Fame inductee Roman's Straw Man; and Roman Annie, dam of
Impressive Andrew. Hayes' Roman Cloud was last owned by Crown Center Farms of
Columbia, Missouri.
